Dance Pre Performance Paper
Integrating elements of modern dance and ballet allowed the performers to experiment with different formations that are persuasive. The March 2, 2018 dance concert will feature various performances by guest artists, faculty members and dance students and will take place at 7:30 pm. The performance will include ballet, integrating contemporary dance styles, and I expect the dancers to focus on the appropriate visual spotting to facilitate postural stability as various dance moves are executed. In the pre performance lecture, Nathan Andary highlighted the need to distinguish the performance between individuals and group as well as the human and inhuman aspects of the dance. The musical performances are linked to the flow of the melody, and even without emphasis on performers’ ornamentation the performance captures the mood of the context to explore different styles. It is necessary to consider the right setting to make the dance techniques naturally fit for the performers as it is more authentic and organic (Gaiser 275). The performance is energetic with the performers going back and forth including running around. The mood is heightened by running, and this is best experienced when the audience members are close to the action.
The dance is graceful and integrates elements of music as each movement is meaningful as there is emphasis on aesthetics. Additionally, the tempo is slow and the dance moves synchronized highlighting the choreographic efforts to achieve harmony.
