Every society needs to maintain a standard of what is not acceptable and what is unacceptable. The definition of acceptable behavior varies by culture and period in time. It also changes over time depending on the attitudes and values in society. Various practices also vary from one society to another. The Japanese Diaspora is usually described as the largest population of people outside Japan. The African Diaspora consists of individuals of an African origin living in other countries and mostly in America. This paper will compare the African diaspora with the Japanese diaspora in terms of various artists and music.
The Japanese diaspora is well known for its Japanese Jazz. Soejima Teruto is one of the famous individuals associated with the Japanese diaspora. He was among the first individuals that introduced Japanese Jazz in Europe. He was a well-known promoter of various concerts, which led to the spread of Japanese Jazz in European nations. One of the common ways he led to the spread of Japanese Jazz is through the Moers festival (Atkins 169). The Moers Festival is an annual music festival that enables various cultures to show their various talents in music. Kaoru Abe is also famous for Jazz music and started playing at a very young age. He played alongside other musicians such as Motoharu Yoshizawa, Yosuke Yamashita, and Takehisa Kosugi. However, most of his performances were solos. He was considered to have had the best saxophonist sound for playing Japanese Jazz. Most of his library contained live recordings and archival music (Atkins 170). The musician also played various instruments such as the bass clarinet and harmonica. He was famous for his combination of traditional Jazz and classical music. Tatsuya Nakatani is another important individual in the Japanese diaspora as he was among the first individuals to introduce Jazz to Japan. The musician performed in more than 150 concerts every year and made more than 80 recordings. The music tours played an important role in making the Japanese more famous in the areas he visited. The Nakatani Gong Orchestra is one of the most famous combinations he worked on. His music is among the famous songs in the modern Japanese diaspora.
The African diaspora is also famous for its Jazz music. Jazz music is popular in many countries like the USA, Canada, and Brazil. Jazz musicians are well known for their improvisation and the club environment that enables them to be free. The African Diaspora is among the less documented populations in music and human rights. However, it has spread across the mighty Atlantic ocean. It has been one of the important cultural influences on America and other regions in Africa. It incorporates musical instruments that have been influenced by the culture of European countries such as France, Germany, and Italy.
