ASSIGNMENT:
For this assignment, you'll perform an analysis of a sequence from the movie Breathless by Jean-Luc Godard. You will analyze. 
Make sure you have seen the film. 
Your paper should have a thesis (main argument). Your thesis should appear in the first paragraph. A paper without a thesis cannot earn better than a C.
Your paper should use appropriate vocabulary to analyze the formal qualities of the sequence. As with the previous assignment, your thesis should be supported by close description. You can discuss any aspect of mise-en-scene, cinematography, editing, or sound (or a sub-set, or a combination) – but be careful to keep your thesis narrow enough for it to be adequately supported within the limits of the world count. 
You may find it useful to re-watch the film from which the sequence is taken.
There wasn't an easy way to clip Breathless and maintin the subtitles, so please use the entire film, and navigate to the correct sequence.

You may need to make sure that subtitles are enabled on your media player. VLC, which I use, definitely works. You may need to right-click, select "subtitles," then, "sub track," then "English."

Breathless
Breathless is an indelible movie by Jean-Luc Godard that set a new standard in film-making which is still being implemented up to this day. The movie contributed a lot to modern film making despite Jean-Luc Godard being new to the industry at the time. The analysis of the film will show why Breathless stood out and inspired a lot of producers. Moreover, the sequence of the movie from 55:30 to 57:30 is significant to the entire film which will be the main focus here. Film-making was not the same before Breathless came out, and it was the beginning of change and improvement for this industry.
Breathless was 1st shown in 1960 and it was a time when the modernization of movies began and producers were just starting to unravel new discoveries. Furthermore, several techniques are used in the film that made it so influential as it gave the finished work a phenomenal breakthrough and it lingered in the minds of the audience. The timing of the cuts in the movie allow people to experience the scene in a better perspective with enough detachment as it refuses to follow authority and tradition. Moreover, Godard made the characters in the film self-absorbed and they avoided paying attention to what was happening to the rest of society. The story was told through an eccentric style of photography with a level of sharpness, fast tempo, and the rigidity of their emotions were relatable.
Breathless served as a reminder of the movie making industry in America between the 1930s and 1940s because of the characterization and where the film was headed to. Ever since the film came out, it had been considered to be a homage to the USA’s sequencing style, that represented a statement which needed to be said.
