Daimler is a Germany-based company that has risen to international standards by applying the appropriate culture to meet organizational, national, and international goals. Daimler has become a parent entity bearing three more branches that are Daimler Truck AG, Mercedes-Benz AG, and Daimler mobility AG (Daimler AG, 2021). Even during the season that was badly affected by Covid-19, “the Group’s company total unit sales of passenger cars and commercial vehicles decreased by 15%. Revenue was €154.3 billion, a reduction of 11%” (Daimler, 2021). However, the company increased its “EBIT Group performance by 53% through extensive cost and cash preservation measures and strong performances across all divisions” (Daimler, 2021). As the main branch, Daimler AG reinforces market and consumer orientation, instills entrepreneurial freedom, and draws new strategies to maximize new growth and earning potentials.
Firstly, due to the current demand for automation in the industry, Daimler AG has prioritized profitable growth by re-inventing volume ambitions. For instance, after the integration of the Daimler Benz production in Bremen in 1978, by 1982, the company improved its production volume to higher than 700,000m2 of floor that aided in higher volumes of car output (Streb and Voelpel, 2009). The industry does so by ensuring volume targets prioritize the most profitable regions and car models. In addition, the industry maximizes its profits through managing residual value to enable new car supply.
Secondly, Daimler AG employs technology from product to production and all other parts of its operations, such as the legal, sales, and market departments (Daimler, 2021). By doing so, the company can monetize opportunities to gain a competitive advantage (Mittal, 2019). Therefore, the industry needs to encourage technology and eDrive investments to maximize the production of Electronic Vehicles through an intelligent platform strategy.
