The Asian culture dictates that employees disregard active team participation, while the Western cultures encourage people to contribute during team meetings. This is an example of instances of cultural bias, which can adversely affect an individual from either of the cultures. In this regard, the Asian culture will consider the West’s aggressiveness as an instance of disrespect because it deviates from their culture. Cultural bias often occurs as an implicit behavior where individuals embrace their own culture as the norm and treat others as different and arguably inferior cultures (Powell, 2017, p. 53). Cultural bias is a menace in every environment and can include favoritism, among other concerns (Shenoy and Kumar, 2021, p. 183). In the workplace, for example, it includes stereotypes that can impede employee motivation and performance.
