Chanel is a very unique company when it comes to the supply of the raw materials used in making their perfume products. The main suppliers were initially the monks who used to plant several flowers in Ayala, France. However, Chanel purchased these fields at some point in time and is now in charge of the flower growing in the fields. The company has expanded these first so much that they are currently in ownership of up to 70,000 square meters of land (ALAVI, 2012). The land is characterized by up to 50,000 rose bushes which are the key products used in the production of this particular product. The total ownership of the flower farms imply that the processes involved in the planting and nurturing of the flowers are under the strict guidance of the company’s employees. The supply involves the collection of these products and shipping to the production center for production purposes. It can therefore be concluded that Chanel does not have an external team of suppliers for its products but rather owns its own farm for the raw products involved.
