The World Trade Center is a global attraction. Even before 9/11, the twin towers were a sight to behold. The twin towers represented America's might and cemented New York City as a global powerhouse. Failure to preserve the World Trade Center would only lead people to forget about America's capability, and how unique one of its cities is. For America to retain its identity as the most powerful country on earth, it needs to preserve one of its most iconic structures. Besides this, if the World Trade Center is not kept, Americans are likely to forget the events of 9/11. Having the World Trade Center in place serves as a reminder of what lay on its ground 20 years ago and how it came to be destroyed. By making visits to New York and lower Manhattan, Americans are reminded to stay vigilant of any future attacks.
One of the things that people will be doing at the World Trade Center in the future is visiting its expansive park. The new center has been built to fit 21st century architectural needs. Although it still has a few tall buildings, there is a sprawling and welcoming layout around the center. This layout features a park where people can come and rest. This is unlike the orthodox business-like center built in the 1970s. Another thing people will be doing at the center is shopping. The center features the Oculus, a 150-foot-tall winged building whose anchor tenant is the Westfield shopping mall. People will also be visiting the World Trade Center to watch theatre performances at the Ronald Perelman Performing Arts Center.
