Your Formal Analysis museum essay can focus on any artwork/object from prehistory to industrialization; the latter date should not be later than 1900, and the artwork/object has to be from the Met Museum. Pick an object from the Met website that has a lot of visual information. Apart from including title, author or culture, medium, dates, and ascension number, I would like you to primarily describe the work on formal terms and how these elements convey ideas, emotion or meaning in an artwork/object. Thus, pay attention to shape, color, and so forth. Be as descriptive as possible. Are there designs on the work; and if so, do you think it helps in the way the work may look to you overall?
