The Luminous Story Life of Jane Franklin and Benjamin Franklin

Essay Instructions:

Book of Ages : the life and opinions of Jane Franklin
by Lepore, Jill
Choose one place where Lepore in Book of Ages examines a single document from Jane Franklin’s life and analyze the way that Lepore treats that document, asking yourself: Does the primary source illustrate what Lepore suggests? Is her use of that evidence convincing? Why or why not? You can pick your own moment from Book of Ages but you must pick one that gives you something interesting, original, and significant to say. Begin with your argument: your argument should not be a fact—if all scholars would agree with it, it is probably not an argument. Do not include any additional resources or references. If you use them and cite them, you’ll get a zero. If you use them and don’t cite them, you’ll be referred for plagiarism
Use prose, with paragraphs, as if in an essay
Between 750 and 1,000 words (include a word count)
State an argument in the first sentence of the paper; that’s your thesis.
Include at least 3 quotes from the Lepore book.
Organization should be clear, with transitions between paragraphs
Include a bibliography that lists Book of Ages and footnote each paragraph that has a quote or paraphrase in Chicago Style and citing the proper page number.

An Argumentative Essay
In the book titled 'Book of Ages: The Life and Opinions of Jane' Jill Lepore, the author recounts the lives of two siblings. The author describes the luminous story life of Jane Franklin and Benjamin Franklin. The book entails the life history of both siblings but mainly Jane, the hurdles they went through as youth, and their lives as adults. The present paper entails an argumentative essay analyzing how Lepore treats the book. Lepore tried to rescue Jane from her brother Benjamin's shadow and suggested she live a catastrophic life. In addition, the author believes Jane was a girl who lacked virtue because she got pregnant when still young.
Lepore attempts to rescue Jane from Ben Franklin's shadow. Benjamin is described as 17 years old who ran away from home but later became successful. Benjamin later became a printer, philosopher, scientist, and diplomat in London, and Paris was one of the founding fathers of the U.S.. He also participated in signing the declaration of independence, the treaty of Paris that brought the American Revolution to an end. All these qualities overshadow Jane's life experiences which were plagued by problems. Lepore suggests that Jane's life encompassed financial problems, childbearing, burying babies, and deeply worrying over her mentally ill children.. A reader may perceive Jane to have lived an insignificant live full of problems. However, Lepore attempts to rescue Jane from her brother's shadows when she says that Jane wrote her brother letters openly stating her opinion. A side that readers did not know. Lepore further says that Jane wrote to Benjamin concerning her reading of philosopher Richards Price's Four Dissertation. Jane claimed that genius had been lost to the world, lived and died in ignorance and meanness scarcely wanting to be positioned in favorable conditions. Lepore demonstrates equality between Jane and franklin when portraying Jane's desirable quality. Such evidence supports Lepore's intention since it depicts Jane's superior and desirable quality. The primary source illustrates what the author says because Jane sent letters to her brother discussing her life events and books she had read.[Lepore, Jill. Book of Ages: The Life and Opinions of Jane Franklin.
