Essay Instructions:

For each source, you must provide:

● The title of the text

● The title of the publication

● The date of publication

● A hyperlink to the source (if found online)

● A short paragraph (4-6 sentences) summarizing the main argument (literary criticism)

● 3-5 bullet points of relevant, substantive quotes and notes regarding how the quotes connect to your own ideas about the story Remember to summarize the main argument of the text. What is the thesis of the text and why does it matter? What reasoning does the writer use to support and evaluate that main claim?

● Do not copy the “abstract” for the source; attempt to summarize the relevant argument in your own words ● Do not copy any language without proper quotation and citation

Evaluation Criteria (20 points) 5 points per source:

● Contains all necessary bibliographic information

● Summary paragraph is 4-6 sentences and complete according to the instructions for each source type on the following page

● Summary paragraph is written in complete sentences and free of mechanical errors. ○ Keep in mind that it is highly likely that some or even much of this writing could wind up in your essay!

● Entry contains at least 3 bullet points of quotes and notes 5 Points for “Conversation” Paragraphs

● Theorize potential points of connections between all sources and your own thinking about the story: What is the conversation about the story that you think you can join?

It allows him to appreciate better the complex dynamics between the author's point-of-view and his environment. In line with this, the three essays assessed in this article show how the environment (or external circumstances) influence an author's piece.
