In codified and digitized transactions, information technology (IT) serves to solve traditional barriers inherent in “in situ” service models, which are often labor-intensive. The spatiotemporal separation of production and consumption of IT products and services eliminates human interactions in service transactions. This, however, limits the co-creation of value following service fulfillment. With the integration of IT, this value co-creation shifts to leverage and commensurate with the intricacy of service-dominant logic (S-D-logic). In their study, Saunila, Ukko, and Rantala (2019) explore various human factors critical in value co-creation with IT.
