Integration and Reflection
This course has been both challenging and very rewarding. Within a short time I was able to understand the routing process which has always seemed complex and hard for me to decipher. Nevertheless, I improved my knowledge on how a computer can send information from one host to another through the packet switching process. The data transit process is an intricate process through which packets are addressed from their source and transported to their ultimate destination through transitional nodes. I got to understand how various nodes are utilized during the routing process such as the bridges, firewalls and switches; the hardware devices are interconnected to logically enhance transmission.
The logic behind sending of information from one host to another is alluring, it comprise of consistent collaboration through which various devices work to convey packets to their addressed destinations. I also learned the use of a default gateway in accessing devices outside the Local Area Network (LAN). Through the default gateway the computer is able to send requests to IP addresses that are not on its local network. Through the subnet masking process computer are able to know the devices attached to the local network.
I did a lot of work in the subnetting process whereby a single LAN is broken into smaller networks. In order to achieve this successfully I had to know the number of the hosts in the network, and assign a specific address to each host...
