Health Informatics Practicum: Testing Methodologies
Software testing methodologies are the mechanism of testing software to ensure they behave according to their purpose. The process of testing software comprises back-end testing. There are various types of testing methodologies. For example, functional, acceptance, and loading testing. However, in this practicum project, I will focus on four primary testing methodologies. These testing mechanisms will include performance, usability, compliance, and interoperability testing. The four testing techniques will be applied in the project. Testing scenarios are essential in healthcare projects since they determine the reliability of software. The paper will focus on testing methodologies, the most probable testing techniques applicable in the project, and testing scenarios.
The Purpose of Testing and Testing Strategy
There are varied reasons behind the testing of software in healthcare. Firstly, testing is vital since it helps healthcare providers to examine the quality of the products. In this case, the testing helps determine the software's validity before using it (Hasan et al., 2021). Notably, before acquiring any software, it is important to weigh its function ability. Can the software perform in a healthcare setting? The software should be in a position to perform under all conditions. As far as validity is concerned, testing also determines the efficiency of the software. Secondly, testing is significant since it enhances the aspects of interoperability in healthcare (Garousi et al., 2018). Testing strategies play an integral role in ensuring that healthcare electronics are well integrated to deliver services efficiently.
Interoperability revolves around cost and performance. It is difficult to determine the efficiency of products before testing them. The ability to connect with various devices in the health facilities is essential, reflecting the importance of testing. Thirdly, testing facilitates extensive knowledge of the software. For example, through testing, it is easier to determine its user abilities. In this case, the software should be user-friendly and can be integrated with other healthcare equipment effectively. Fourth, testing strategies determine the viability of products and whether they are law compliant. The software in healthcare handles sensitive information, which can be fatal in the hands of hackers (Hasan et al., 2021). Therefore, the testing techniques ensure that the software is observed in the requirements of law. For example, they should assure information security and should not be vulnerable.
Testing Methodologies
It is recommendable to have numerous testing methodologies because it helps in validating the software. There are four main types of testing methodologies. However, these testing methods will be classified into function and non-functional techniques. Functional testing is very critical, and it comprises acceptance, integration, and...
