Be sure to make an electronic copy of your answer before submitting it to Ashworth College for grading. Unless otherwise stated, answer in complete sentences, and be sure to use correct English spelling and grammar. Sources must be cited in APA format. Your response should be four (4) pages in length; refer to the "Assignment Format" page for specific format requirements.
In your course, turn to Lesson 8. Skim through it to refresh your memory. Next, carefully study and review the section titled “Approaches to Measuring Technological Progress.”
Use your own words to write a short compare-and-contrast essay that defines and explains three distinct perspectives on the evolution of technology. As you write, imagine you are talking to a friend who has no knowledge of this topic. In short, write the way you speak, using a conversational tone. Also, try to alternate short sentences and longer sentences to make your writing more readable.
Be sure to create a title and cite yourself as the author. For example:
A Comparison of Three Perspectives on the Evolution of Technology
Mei Quoran
Your essay should include five paragraphs, as follows:
Paragraph 1 is your lead paragraph. It will contain an overview of what you have to say in comparing and contrasting the perspectives of Gerhard Lenski, Leslie White, and Alvin Toffler with respect to the evolution of technology.
Paragraphs 2, 3, and 4, are your body paragraphs.
In your essay, use paragraph 2 to describe the perspective of Gerhard Lenski.
In paragraph 3, you’ll write about the perspective of Leslie White.
In paragraph 4, you’ll describe and discuss the perspective of Alvin Toffler.
Paragraph 5 is your summary and conclusion. Here, you’ll compare the three perspectives to show how they are, or may be, similar. You’ll contrast the three perspectives to describe how they’re different. You’ll end this process--and your essay--by expressing your view as to which of these theorists (one or more) offer the most useful insights into the evolution of technology, in your opinion.
It’s permissible to use direct quotes from your reading, but don’t use too many. One to three such quotes should be your limit. Be sure to put a direct quote in quotation marks. For example: According to Smith, “Carbon dioxide is both our friend and our enemy.”
Begin by writing a first draft. Then, edit and rework your material to make it clear and concise. After you have reached a final draft, proofread the essay one last time to locate and correct grammar and spelling errors.

Three Perspectives of The Evolution of Technology Mei Quoran
Innovations are the main reason why there have been technological evolutions. Through such innovations, society attempts to make manufacturing and production better by exploiting available resources. In turn, they end up creating a technology better than what they had before. People keep on making innovations each day, which indicates that technology will continue to evolve. Evolution is responsible for creating better technology, which will make it easy for people to find means of using resources to meet their demands. Various scholars have put forward various theories to explain the concept of technology evolution. Therefore, the project will focus on analyzing and comparing different technological evolution perspectives as put forward by Gerhard Lenski, Leslie White, and Alvin Toffler.
According to Gerhard Lenski, society consists of a social and natural environment. These environments keep on changing, thus requiring members of society to adapt to the changes. Such changes can be extinction or innovation and depend on what society aims to achieve through the changes. The changes that require society to become innovative are the reason for technology evolution. The availability of information has played a huge role in facilitating the changes that lead to technology evolution. Such information allows individuals to develop new and better ways of exploiting the resources in the environment to meet their changing needs. The people's ability to access this kind of information is the main reason technology evolution is occurring. Otherwise, they would not be innovative without the know-how of how to exploit resources. Society has been passing this information from one generation to the other. Each generation aims to make better use of the information to develop innovations that the previous generations were not able to create. Given that the social and natural environment keeps changing, it is necessary for people to change the way they exploit resources to ensure they meet all their demands. Gerhard Lenski further points out that technology evolution is a continuous process determined by people's ability to understand and interpret information. The theorist argues that various factors have highly contributed to the process of technology evolution. Among such factors are the availability of cultural information, genetic heritage, human needs, and social interactions (Lenski, 2015). These factors are a major contribution to various changes in society. As a result, the factors directly contribute to technology evolution as society works to adapt to the various changes of the socio-cultural environment.
Leslie White points out that technological evolution is caused by society's need to control energy. The more energy that society harnessed, the more efficient it becomes to exploit resources to meet their demands. Human beings experience plenty of survival problems, which force them to come up with solutions for them to survive. According to Leslie White, harnessing energy is one of society's best ways to solve s...
