Katniss Everdeen is the protagonist of the "The Hunger Games" movie series, set in the dystopian world of Panem, where the wealthy Capitol controls and oppresses the impoverished districts through an annual event known as The Hunger Games. Katniss is a member of District 12, known for its coal mining industry, and her family is struggling to make ends meet. She takes on the role of provider for her family by hunting in the forest with her best friend, Gale. As seen in the film, she was also selected to participate in The Hunger Games. In this competition, tributes from each district are forced to fight to the death in a televised event as a form of entertainment for the Capitol.
