Social, cultural, and political factors affect a community’s receptiveness to restorative justice. In particular, politicians believe that they contribute to making policies that improve the justice system, which does not recognize restorative justice. Many cultures believe that criminal offenders should be arrested to make the community safe. So far, there is no public awareness about restorative justice, meaning that many people hesitate to apply it (Belden, 2012).
