Mexican Immigrants on Farmingville Town

In the late 1990’s, a group of some fifteen hundred Mexican immigrants moved to the suburban town of Farmingville. It might be common for people residing in the southern border towns to move from one place to another; however, for the 16,000 residents of Long Island, this sudden increase in population was a big shock. It gave rise to various political, social and economic issues. As is shown in Farmingville, the primary issue was between the immigrants looking for work and townspeople wanting to take action against them. Their cultures, values, religions, and lifestyles were different from one another, and according to this movie, they were competing with each other in almost all walks of life.
