Over the past few years, racial profiling has been in the news because of high profile cases involving deadly force used against unarmed African Americans, particularly African American men. Data consistently shows that African American and Latino men are more likely to be stopped and searched by police than white men, even though they are unlikely to be possessing anything illegal. Critics argue that the increased rates of stops and searches is due to racial profiling and implicit biases. Based on reviewing the required resources, please address the following:
Define racial profiling. What is the connection between stereotypes and racial profiling? What are some of the consequences of racial profiling discussed in the resources?

Racial profiling is the practice of discrimination performed by law enforcers targeting specific persons by claiming that they were involved in crimes due to their race, national origin, or religion with no proof. Racial profiling is believed to be practiced by police officers targeting people, especially African Americans, in the United States. They associate poverty with black people concluding that their poverty level drives them to criminal activities such as theft and murder as a survival tactic. The connection between stereotypes and racial profiling is that they have a generalized belief about African American people in the minds of those performing discrimination acts. The assumption is that they will never change. They believed that poverty was associated with the African American people (Fletcher, 2021). This is why any criminal case is related to these people, and the belief would never change.
Racial profiling has consequences. Firstly, it can lead to death. According to an article published by CNN on 11th May 2018, the police can kill an innocent black man who could be thought of as having a gun or any other dangerous weapon (Yan, 2018). The natives of other countries believed that a black man was just scary. A lot of African Americans faced death due to stereotypes. The article further articulates that some people suffer chronic illness due to everyday discrimination (2018). Racial profiling also results in effects such as dropping out of school by the subjects due to fear and a long-term traumatic disorder to family members and friends of the affected individuals.
The police shooting incidents contributed to the death of many unarmed African Americans. The shooting by police officers reflected structural racism indicated in the research by Boston University in the school of public health. This was because, over the past years, African American society primarily was associated with criminal activities, according to police records (Boston University, 2018).
