In your definition you say that family is made up of people who dwell together and support each other. This raises the question what about the case where the parents and the children do not stay together or both parents are separated? As by my understanding a family is considered as the building block in any given society. The family is, therefore a word that is relevant in almost every field be it religion, education or in a cult. Family can also be illustrated regarding a country where all the citizens are united to the central leader making them a family. This sums up the definition of family as the love shared within individuals, relatives, and friends as well. You can also conclude that any person that you care about and love and the feeling is reciprocated is what you should consider as your close family.
As much as divorce has become a specialty in this contemporary world, people tend to misunderstand the original definition of family which refers to the bond by blood. This is to justify that once the parents have separated and there is no contact; you are still family due to the element of blood irrespective of the location or status.
