The objective of Ms. Lauren Hensel’s Master’s thesis is to provide a comparative analysis of the Dutch versus American primary public education systems within the framework of Donald Moore’s Five Essential Supports. The thesis also analyzes and explores the significance of professional capacity/quality and its connection to standardized test scores on the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS), Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS), and Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). Simply put, the subject matter of the thesis is a comparison of primary public school systems between America and Netherlands within the framework of Donald Moore’s Five Essential support.
2 Research Questions
The thesis is based on the following research questions:
* What is the comparison between the Dutch and American primary public education systems within the framework of Donald Moore’s Five Essential Support?
* What is the importance of professional capacity/quality and its connection to standardized test scores on the TIMSS, PIRLS, and PISA?
3 Did she use a sufficient number of sources in her literature review?
From an individual perspective, Hensel used a sufficient number of resources in her literature review. Her literature review explored the structure if the Dutch vs. American public education. These included the Macro, Meso, Micro Organizational Framework; the Funding structure; the accountability standards; the curriculum/ testing structure; the enrolment demographics; and the Dutch faults.
