Human resource management should adopt various practices to help employees of different races, ages, ethnicity, gender, and culture work harmoniously. In addition, female employees should be helped to develop their careers successfully in the organization. The above can only be achieved by creating an all-inclusive environment where all workers are treated equally so that they can contribute positively toward the growth and development of an organization.
Employees of different ages, ethnicity, races, cultures, and gender can work together if their contributions to a firm are valued regardless of their differences. Human resource managers should embrace diversity by creating a working place that allows all workers to participate (Ali, Metz, & Kulik, 2015). For instance, when a worker succeeds in something, the person should be rewarded without weighing whether the individual is a male or female. In addition, human resource management should emphasize things that increase job satisfaction among employees. For example, creating teambuilding activities where all workers participate is crucial since it promotes social interaction in an informal environment. When employees know each other at a personal level, they are likely to reduce conflicts among themselves.
Human resource managers should promote behaviors and norms that align with an organization’s culture. They should discourage things that remind employees of their differences. For instance, female and male workers who are assigned similar duties and have the same scope of work should be compensated equally. There should be no inequality in wages based on traditional views that men get more financial benefits since they are the breadwinners in many families. Moreover, human resource management should implement policies to curb discrimination against employees based on their culture, race, age, gender, and ethnicity (Chatman, 2010).
