Strengths for group facilitation
As a facilitator, I am good at guiding the group members and encouraging all members to participate. As I am keen on open communication and providing feedback, communication has been essential in ensuring there the people understand their roles and expectations, and negotiations. Authentic communication facilitates team engagement and promotes team working where there are team discussions in an environment that fosters collaboration and flexibility. Empowering the group members is essential to encouraging group participants to work together and learn from each other. Group members have various skills and experiences, and as the facilitator coordinating activities is essential to ensure the group works effectively. Conflict resolution skills also promote effective group functioning where there is cooperation and mutual trust. 
Areas to work on
Group facilitation requires leadership skills as one leads people to achieve the set objectives while managing the people and the process of group work. Thus, improving my leadership skills will make it easier to support the group members and help them achieve the set objectives. In any case, leadership skills are closely linked with group facilitation techniques. Group members have shared interests, but it is easier to facilitate interactive discussions when there is effective group leadership.
Besides leadership skills, there is coaching in group facilitation where an individual’s and group’s needs and interests are prioritized. Assisting and guiding the group members, while also clarifying the vision is essential to promoting coaching to successfully manage the group. As a coach, action steps and strategies are necessary. Managing group dynamics to reach the expected outcome requires boosting team engagement and empowering the team members.
Social locators and/or identities relate dominant discourse
Class, education, and socioeconomic status are consistent with the perceived dominant discourse with being in the middle class making it easier to attain quality education than those in the lower class. Education attainment in turn is linked to social status and there is a better quality of life among the upper and middle calls than the poor. The socioeconomic status includes privileges and opportunities to advance financially as a student studying abroad. Getting an education from a top-ranked institution of her learning is a privilege even as it requires paying more in fees. A multicultural perspective where I appreciate and am better placed to understand people from diverse backgrounds abroad study. my family’s background in business provides access to resources to learn abroad accessing education opportunities in the US that more people want, but cannot get is beneficial. Knowledge of English can give one a competitive edge in the working environment.
