In order to comprehend how the Medieval Greek political system functioned, it is essential to grasp the administration practice prevalent during the time. There was no central government in ancient Greece as the one prevailing in modern days. All Greek city-states worked autonomously and were governed by varied forms of government according to the various regions. The city-states commonly known as Polis were urban centers with power seats, including Athens, Thebes, Delphi, Corinth, and Sparta (Thomas, 2014). The regions varied differently with various capabilities, such as Sparta's military ability and Athens' political influence.
