In a news article, “Tamale North MP chastised for his ethnocentric comment,” appearing on October 18, 2018 in Savannanews24.com, Ghana’s New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Deputy Communication Director, Mr. Mohammed Harun accused Mr. Alhassan Sahuyuni, Tamale’s North MP, of making ethnocentric statements. Mr. Sahuyini attempted to woo voters to elect John Dramani Mahama as Ghana’s president (Lolly, 2018). Mr. Harun has maintained that Sahuyini’s statement that Mahama should be voted because he is a northerner is condemnable and largely affects the peace-loving people of Ghana. Before the 2016 elections, Mr. Sahuyini had massively rallied the electorate in Tamale to vote for President Mahama.
