Educational inequalities should be unacceptable throughout the country; children from both urban and rural areas have the right to be provided with equal education opportunities. It is critical to note that inequality of educational opportunities is a significant problem that is experienced by children belonging to ethnic minorities, particularly those in rural areas. Providing children living in rural areas with a different level of education contravenes the principles of non-discrimination where every individual has equal rights. Additionally, providing some children with low-level education would make it impossible for them to have the right personal development, which would hinder them from fully participating in society. Most importantly, taking the best interests of a child into account, the education-based decisions made by the government should prioritize ensuring that every child has access to quality education to facilitate full development and promote access to life opportunities.
Providing children in rural areas with a distinct education level would be unethical because all children deserve equal educational opportunities regardless of their ethnic background, race, or whether they are rich or poor. The government can support and promote educational inequality in rural areas through practices such as unjust and discriminatory financing of schools from the countryside, and this makes it challenging to facilitate the level and quality of education provided to young people from these regions (Riley, 2000).
