Increasing economic inequality in the United States has become a focal issue. Information from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development demonstrates that the U.S. has the most significant monetary disparity of all the G7 countries, with a Gini coefficient of 0.434 (Schaeffer, 2020). A record 46 million Americans live below the destitution line. This figure is alarming, and it should push us to assist the poor as we endeavor to develop the economy. A developing income divide can cultivate harshness and ill will between classes, compromise the majority rules system, and destabilize the economy.
The income gap between the wealthiest and more unfortunate families in the U.S. has increased dramatically. Currently, families in the top fifth of workers have more than half of all U.S. incomes, which is more than the lower four-fifths put together. Such developing imbalance, a few pundits fight, is both essentially and ethically risky (Amadeo, 2021). The wealthiest families are additionally the ones in particular whose abundance expanded in the years. Most importantly, they contend, it disregards the esteemed good guideline of correspondence. This paper centers on the obligations of the general public and business community in fighting this steadily broadening hole.

One factor contributing to the economic gap is non-labor income. In the spirit of justice and equality, society thinks to impose a limitation to non-labor incomes. However, this is not advisable because the interruption of non-labor income will reduce innovation, risk-taking, and growth of the economy. It is important to note that non-labor income is a reward for the provision of capital. Disruption of supply of capital, in turn, affects efficiency. Hence, Americans should save and contribute capital in the spirit of entrepreneurship and wait for the rewards.
Gender inequality has also contributed to economic inequality. People of color and women often have lower earnings and less desirable jobs. They are also underpaid compared to their male counterparts (Equitable Growth, 2018). Furthermore, the burden of childbearing and child-rearing burdens them with a financial burden that overwhelms them. As a society, we should have policies to ensure that gender inequality and segregation are crushed (Equitable Growth, 2018).
The development of strong cognitive and non-cognitive is a critical factor for success in school and beyond. Furthermore, individuals with higher levels of education get higher wages because of the much they have to offer. Therefore, society should have a robust education system in place that ensures that every child can develop and use their cognitive skills from a young age (Bhatt et al., 2020).
