Introduction
Groups are formed to achieve certain objectives. However, one of key factors to success is how communication is undertaken by the leader of the group. Nevertheless, after meeting its goals, all groups must pass through the separation period (adjourning stage). The adjournment stage is an emotional stage since members would have developed feelings of togetherness. Therefore, members must be prepared to go through this stage. This paper seeks to examine how communication is shown in a group and preparation for separation.
The group’s leader must show empathy towards the members while addressing them. This is a way of showing that the leader understands their emotions. Therefore, it will helpful in avoiding injurious language. To enhance understanding of information, the group leader should also adopt one on one conversation approach. Levi, (2015) acknowledges that some people understand better when talked to on a one on one basis. However, information is only captured if there is a receptive environment.
