1 Attributes of a persuasive/effective policy brief that you plan to implement (25 points);
1 In order to have a persuasive policy brief, I will try to utilize a (1) specific audience, (2) a clear, convincing, and professional tone, (3) a narrow yet specific purpose, and finally (4) an appropriate format.
First, I will limit my audience to both policymakers and the general readership because they shape policies directly and indirectly. So, on the one hand, the policymakers are the main target audience of this brief. On the other hand, however, the general readership is also targeted because they are the ones who choose the leaders themselves.
Second, I will also use a clear, convincing, and professional tone to convey that the persuasions of the brief were given much attention and effort while also making it easier for readers to understand the same. The use of a clear and professional tone will increase the chance for this brief to be taken with urgency by the policymaker or his team.
Third, I will narrow down my purpose to gather the precise group of individuals or policymakers who believe in the cause. By narrowing the topic, we can find both policymakers and other advocates with sufficient knowledge and resources to help implement the same.
Finally, I will also use the appropriate format, which includes; (1) a title, (2) executive summary, (3) context of the scope of the problem, (4) policy alternatives, (5) recommendations, (6) appendices, and (7) recommended sources CITATION Unind \l 1033 (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, n.d.).
