Islam is one of the most misunderstood groups in society. Many of their practices are misinterpreted and misconstrued by others. However, most of their practices are in accordance with God's will for them. For instance, “Jihad” is a term that numerous individuals misunderstand. It has a deeper meaning, although it is often associated with conflict, terrorism, and violence (Faozan, 2020). The purpose of this paper is to delve deeper into the true nature of the concept of Jihad and refute all the myths around it.
Jihad literally means doing one’s best in the path of God. The “Greater Jihad” refers to doing one’s best to overcome inner struggles, such as doing good and becoming a better version of oneself. On the other hand, the “Lesser Jihad” refers to doing one’s best to overcome external struggles, such as fighting for peace and justice (Faozan, 2020).
