Christianity and Islam are the greatest religion in the world. They have a traditional and historical relationship and also some theological differences. They both originated from the Middle East and they are both monotheistic. Christianity developed from the second temple Judaism in the 1st century CE. Its foundation is based on the life, teachings, death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the followers are known as Christians. The Islam foundation is based on the teachings of Muhammad in the 7th century CE which shows the surrender to will Ashing, 2015. The followers of Islam are known as Muslims. Muslims refer to Christians as heretics as they consider them as the assessors of the monotheistic scriptures while the Christians believe that the Muslims are heresy or a cult.
Similarities between Christianity and Islam
They both worship one God: That is they are monotheistic. They believe in one God who created and maintains the universe. Christians refer to him as God while the Muslims refer to him as Allah.
They have prophets: Both religions have prophets who are the carriers of the word of God to earth. They have prophets such as Isaac Ismael David Solomon John the Baptist and Jesus whom they believe they were sent by Go d to preach his word. Although Muslims consider Jesus as a simple prophet, the Christians consider him as the son of God.
They share Scriptures: The scriptures are considered holy by both religions. They both draw the Torah which is the Old Testament and the Gospel which is the New Testament as the sacred texts. The book containing the Scripture is referred to as the Duran by the Muslims and as the Holy Bible by the Christians.
They both believe in the miraculous birth of Jesus: they believe in the miraculous birth of Jesus through the Virgin Mary conceived through the Holy Spirit though they differ in the divinity of Jesus Christ as the son of God.
They also have a common enemy who is the Satan: They both believe that Satan is the source of evil. In both traditions, the followers of Satan are considered to be morally corrupt. According to Christian literature Satan is a rival to God while in Islamic literature Satan is below the benevolence and the all-powerful hence he is only an enemy to human beings.
They both await the coming of the Antichrist: They anticipate the coming of a false messiah who is also known as an Antichrist. The Antichrist will pretend to be the messiah so as to lure ...
