My Death
Death is such a cruel rite of passage in the human life cycle and most cultures have come to embrace it due to its inevitability. Some cultures have added a bit of style to spice it up and relieve the pain of losing loved ones while others still view and approach death with lots of hostility and fear. One thing that is for sure, and each one of us should be conversant with is the fact that death will come our way at some point in time. Anthropologists have determined that death is not just a mere biological process but also a social process, some regarding it as the most important social practice ahead of exciting practices like birth, circumcision, and even marriage ADDIN ZOTERO_ITEM CSL_CITATION {"citationID":"nKwn16fd","properties":{"formattedCitation":"(Swazey, 2013)","plainCitation":"(Swazey, 2013)","noteIndex":0},"citationItems":[{"id":3004,"uris":["http://zotero.org/users/local/IBolxqVE/items/5I4MQHHJ"],"uri":["http://zotero.org/users/local/IBolxqVE/items/5I4MQHHJ"],"itemData":{"id":3004,"type":"motion_picture","abstract":"In Tana Toraja, weddings and births aren't the social gatherings that knit society together. In this part of Indonesia, big, raucous funerals are at the center of social life. Egypt is one of the earliest civilizations and has a rich history relating to death worthy of reminiscing.
The Egyptians are more popularly known for their traditional Pharaoh rulers, the pyramids, and of course their famous mummified corpses. They occupy the northeastern part of Africa, a country west of Israel, and initially referred to as the United Arab Republic. The Egyptian culture does not regard death as the end of life like many other civilizations but rather a cyclic process where some of the attributes of the person live on after the biological death, even capable of influencing the daily lives of the living ADDIN ZOTERO_ITEM CSL_CITATION {"citationID":"M67QtCwg","properties":{"formattedCitation":"(Meskell, 2001)","plainCitation":"(Meskell, 2001)","noteIndex":0},"citationItems":[{"id":3010,"uris":["http://zotero.org/users/local/IBolxqVE/items/BZKY2V4S"],"uri":["http://zotero.org/users/local/IBolxqVE/items/BZKY2V4S"],"itemData":{"id":3010,"type":"article-journal","container-title":"Archeological Papers of the American Anthropological Association","issue":"1","page":"27–40","source":"Google Scholar","title":"The Egyptian ways of death","volume":"10","author":[{"family":"Meskell","given":"Lynn"}],"issued":{"date-parts":[["2001"]]}}}],"schema":"https://git...
