I assumed the role of a research assistant (RA), Megan Boyle. As an RA, I had to make some choices to ensure the integrity of the study (ORI, n.d.). When Mrs. Chamos was struggling with answering the question I read to her, I chose to follow protocol and allowed her to answer the question without my help. I have learned that it is not ethical to lead subjects toward an answer or help them select the answers. Another decision I made was rescheduling the meeting with Mr. and Mrs. Johnson. Mr. Johnson would not have given sober answers because he was sleepy. This rescheduling meant that I did not collect data that would have ruined the integrity of the study.
