Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs applies in Rosetta’s case. According to Maslow, a person first satisfies the most basic needs before moving on to the next in the hierarchy (Hopper, 2020). At the bottom of the hierarchy is the physiological needs which include air, food, and shelter. The second in the hierarchy is safety needs. Based on the case study, Rosetta had to ensure that her family was safe before working. She had to ensure that her children woke up and prepared to go to school. This is an application of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory.
Rosetta and Sally’s behaviors are motivated by certain factors. Rosetta has a family to take care of. Her responsibility is to ensure they get food. Thus, she does not want to lose her job, especially after her husband lost his job. Rosetta also must ensure that her children have woken up and are ready for the day before she leaves for her job. The third motivation is Rosetta’s car which she blames as the cause for her reporting late for work when it breaks down or when the traffic jam is intense.
