The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th Edition (DSM–5-TR) is a comprehensive and critical resource for diagnosing and classifying mental disorders. Please take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the content and layout of the manual. This will be discussed in a bit more detail during Seminar this week. The manual can be accessed under the Digital Book area in the left navigation of the course.

Explain what is necessary to determine if a person may have a psychological disorder.
Discuss what the library research article indicated about Mental Distress and Psychological Disorders Related to COVID-19 Mandatory Lockdown.
Choose one psychological disorder to examine more closely. Describe the symptoms that would be necessary to determine that a person may have this disorder.

Psychological Disorder
Mental disorders cause suffering and limit a person's ability to perform their duties. These factors frequently affect how people think, behave, and feel. They may also impact how well a person does in important areas, such as work, school, relationships, and other significant fields (Kaser & Sahakian, 2019). A person must be subjected to a set of diagnosis and classification procedures to identify whether or not they have a mental health condition. These procedures will decide whether the individual's signs or the behaviors they have demonstrated satisfy a mental illness threshold for diagnosis.
