Post your identification of the physical, behavioral, and oral signs of anxiety that the person in the scenario is exhibiting. Based on what you know at this point in the course, describe your initial approach to help the person through the crisis.
(Note that you have not yet been exposed to crisis response models, so do not worry about “getting it right.” This exercise is to identify your initial response instincts.)
The Rescue Mission Homeless Shelter is a 100-bed facility for people experiencing homelessness. The shelter is separated into teen, adult men, adult women, and family “houses” that personalize services for the demographic. The average stay is 60 days. Rescue Mission’s human services professional practitioners provide needs assessment, goal setting, and case management services to residents.
