The popular press article is about development problems in children and tied to high blood pressure during pregnancy. The article starts by stating that preeclampsia can be harmful to the mother and even incorporates an argument about a new study that states that there are high chances for children exposed to preeclampsia to develop developmental problems. This is probably true because, according to Bob et al. (2020), 4% of pregnancies are affected by this disorder of abnormal placentation.
The article also incorporates a health database that studied preeclampsia in full-term pregnancies, and according to the collected information, exposure to preeclampsia was associated with increased risks for epilepsy, intellectual disability, and hearing loss. The article also notes that attention-deficit and cerebral epilepsy risks of developing these disorders are associated with preeclampsia. The study was meant to determine the association between adverse neurodevelopmental outcomes after excluding preterm deliveries and proved that cerebral palsy is associated with preeclampsia.
According to a current analysis by Maher and associates, the scientific proof was inadequate to reach inferences on the connection of preeclampsia with other neurodevelopmental consequences.  Limited publications have differentiated the difference between term and preterm preeclampsia to date.
