For this assignment, write an essay response (at least 300 words, but longer is fine and encouraged) to the prompt below, based on the video that we watched in class (titled "Conspiracy: The Truth is Out There" - Episode 9 "Faking the Moon Landing", available on Amazon Prime Video). Post your essay here as a discussion post. Then find posts from fellow students and write substantive responses (replies should add something new to the discussion, not just 'I agree' or 'I disagree').
Essays should be well-structured (in other words, it should contain more than one focused paragraph, defend a clear thesis or point of view, pay attention to grammar/spelling, etc). Essays will be graded on structure, mechanics, and how well you support your answer. Essays should be posted in the discussion forum by the end of the day on Monday Oct 25th; replies to other students should be posted by the end of the day on Wednesday Oct 27th (post at least two replies, but more are encouraged).

Essay Prompt: In the show we watched, a number of arguments (such as the shadows in the photographs, the flag movement, etc.) are presented to support the claim that the moon landing was a hoax, deliberately faked by NASA to trick the world in to believing that America had put men on the moon.
Choose an argument: You may focus on one or more of the conspiracy theories - that we faked it, or had alien help, etc? Your essay should include critical discussion of at least one argument for or against the conspiracy theory, and evaluate whether it is a strong or weak argument.
You don't need to use outside information - you can just discuss arguments from the video (and this is what I want you to focus on).
If you do use any information from outside sources, be sure to cite your sources to avoid plagiarism.

When Apollo landed on the moon in July 1969, it was considered one of the most astounding accomplishments in the history of humans. This event attracted approximately 530 million television viewers who watched the United States astronauts Buzz Aldrin, and Neil Armstrong takes their first walk on the moon (Fong, 2019). Subsequently, the men flew back to earth in one peace and touched down in the Pacific Ocean. However, this historical event led to doubts and claims that it was all a hoax and staged by the American government. Several conspiracy theories came up, including the flag movements, an Astronaut's camera that could not be seen in a reflection, and invisible stars.
Critics claimed that judging from the video, the flag appeared to be waving in the wind. The criticizers argued that that was impossible since there is certainly no wind on the moon (Pauly, 2020). NASA experts placed a counterargument that I find to be very strong reasoning. They explain that the flag is not normal; if an ordinary flag were placed, it would not have hung slack as they do on earth when the wind is absent. Therefore, NASA devised a special flag for the astronauts to bring with them to the moon. All the six astronauts who made it to the moon had their flags planted there. The flags had horizontal rods in their interiors to make them stick out from the post.
