For each discussion forum, the class will be split into groups of about 15 people. (If you end up being a "group leader" just ignore that.)
This discussion forum will be open until Oct 2, 11:59 pm, when all responses are due. But initial comments must be posted by Sep 29, 11:59 pm. If you miss the initial comment deadline, you can still provide responses for credit. You’ll just have to submit an initial comment of some kind in order to join the discussion. Have fun :)

Initial comments should address the course material that was covered since the previous discussion (which is chapters 3, 5, and 6). Comments and responses should be a paragraph in length (at least 100 words). Grades will be based on substance (insight, thoughtfulness, analysis, new ideas) and whether responses advance the discussion. Initial comments can be based on the following (but other ideas are welcome; there are some examples in the syllabus):
What was a particularly interesting part (explain)?
Was there anything you disagreed with (explain)?
Did you find something that is relevant to a current social discussion?
Did the material inform your view, or change your mind, about something?
What real-life applications does the material have?

Chapter 3 of the book, Sciences of Psychology, examines the biological foundations of behavior (King, 2016). Its research background is on the nervous system, the brain, and genetic systems in shaping human behavior. It clarifies how the resources of the brain handle stress and meet life challenges.
I found the structure and functions of the brain interesting. The author clarifies how an infant’s brain’s plasticity makes it easy to repair in the demonstration.
