In the video, the physicians utilized two main intervention strategies for Maggie to aid in treating her autistic condition. The first strategy to be incorporated was traditional therapy which entailed physical therapy and speech therapy to aid in building her communication and motor skills. However, after six months, her therapists realized there was no significant improvement in her eye contact or speech skills (Integrated Listening System, 2016). The therapists then introduced Maggie to the Unyte-iLs strategy. Unyte-iLs combine language, movement, and music exercises to improve the patients’ brain function. The body and brain are trained using a staged approach, beginning with sensory integration and then with self-expression, language, and social skills, categorized as complex functions (Integrated Listening System, 2016).
