Wisdom is more useful than intelligence. Indeed, it enables a person to know how he or she should act correctly based on the situation at hand. Wisdom gives an individual the ability to reason appropriately and acquire knowledge. In contrast, intelligence entails knowing facts and having a high intelligence quotient. A person might be very intelligent, but one cannot apply the knowledge and skills that they have obtained through learning. However, being wise means that an individual can apply the concepts and theories he or she knows to make the right decision, take a specific direction, or be creative (Lynch & Kaufman, 2019). Wisdom helps a person to see beyond what others can perceive and to make proper decisions to improve one’s life and that of others. Overall, it is acquired through experience and years of learning from both successes and failures, which is why it is more useful than intelligence.
