Dr. Hendrick is a renowned experimental psychologist at a prestigious university who recruits many top-tier graduate students for his lab. Recently, one of Dr. Hendrick’s colleagues, Dr. Ford, became concerned when he learned that Dr. Hendrick required his students to include his name as a co-author on all research papers submitted despite the fact that Dr. Hendrick contributed little work to co-authoring most of these papers. Upon checking his state’s psychology licensure act, Dr. Ford was dismayed to learn that there were no relevant legal statues that addressed this research situation as Dr. Hendrick is neither licensed as a psychologist nor providing healthcare/clinical services to the public.
