The purpose of this paper is to understand the fundamental and dynamic functions that prison-based and community interventions serve and what their goals are. Through an analytical review of their components and structure, and aided by research, this paper shall further offer a comparison between what the author's analysis is against what has been proven by research. It is essential to understand and acknowledge the existence of this gap and offer creative and design thinking solutions to the potential effects it may impose.
To begin with, it is prudent to highlight the author's perspective. The subject matter, prison-based and community interventions, describe the corrective efforts of the state institutions and the local communities to offer care, custody, and correctional programs for offenders of the law. These services focus on improving the character and dignity of the individuals while accommodatively taking care of the rogue and violent criminals. Moreover, they combine several features and incorporate different strategies to ensure the promotion and wellness of members of the community. Thus these programs aim to prevent the communities from dysfunctioning through man-made disasters (Gil C., 2018).
Prison-based Interventions
As prisons serve as state-controlled correctional and rehabilitation facilities, offenders are often exposed to a hybrid of conditions meant to assist in their successful acceptance and entry back into society. Some of the intervention practices offered in such facilities include but are not limited to psychological counseling, treatment of traumatic symptoms, psychiatric medication, and integrated treatment for mental health issues and substance abuse. The design structure of these intervention techniques concentrates their efforts to shed more light on the effects of emotions and thoughts on human behavior. Additionally, they include classes that challenge offenders to improve their moral etiquette and character development by constantly challenging them to self-evaluate after given activities.
Community Interventions
The driving purpose behind the concept of community intervention is to address the discrepancy of unmet limited human needs, which possess the particular traits of being universal and interrelated. The primary functioning scheme in its operation relates to offering solutions to social problems. Such initiatives stem from the unwavering need for balance and order, as the thriving of any society is dependent on their continuity through structurally designed systems that improve their efficiency.
