Program: Stetson University Creative writing
Creative writing is one of the programs offered by Stetson University in the United States. It is under the department of English and literature. This program has been a Stetson undergraduate distinctive since 1995. It was developed to equip students with skills and knowledge in reading, writing and craft talk. This program encourages students to grow as writers and global citizens through mentorship. The program also involves visiting other creative writing faculties in other campuses (Stetson University Website).
Step 1: Identify Goals and Desired Outcomes
A.Make a list of the primary goals of the program.
1.To help students inform and reform their work through reading and writing.
2.To help students demonstrate critical thinking in the analysis of their creative work.
3. To help students demonstrate the ability to move work from an idea to a real written draft.
B.What groups did the program developers want to involve?
1.Web designers- 5 to 10 per session.
2.Teachers – a maximum of 7 teachers per session.
3.Independent publishers- not less than 10 publishers per session.
C.What outcomes did they desire?
1.To help web designers avoid the act of copying other people's work to use it on their websites. From this program, web designers would learn how to use their own ideas in developing websites through creative writing. They wanted web designers to believe in themselves and their own ideas.
2.This program was to help teachers craft stories from their own thought and share them among their pupils. Through creative writing, most teachers would be able to solve student’s problems by sharing their own experiences. This program breaks the monotony in class and brings participation.
3.This program was established to help independent publishers in deciding how their books will be published. Also, it was designed to correct grammar and spellings, which publishers tend to make in their writing. Through this many publishers will be confident in their work.
