Introduction
Adolescence is a complex biological process in almost all human beings, from nine to twenty-one years. During this stage, one begins to develop mentally, socially, and emotionally. Adolescence is a developmental stage that enables one to mature into an adult. In this paper, I analyze the developmental adolescent behavior of my little cousin, a boy aged ten years.
Cognitive behavior
Alderman et al. (2019) explain that individuals experience rapid motor development. The grey and white matter in the brain expand, and adolescents begin to feel more mature. It makes them make risky decisions such as drug and substance abuse, and they may also neglect pieces of advice from their elders.
Adolescents majorly face challenges with their parents and guardians who feel they are becoming indisciplined and need to face raft disciplinary measures. At this stage of development, elder siblings and relatives are essential because they can relate to their past and advise their juniors effectively.
My cousin attended movie clubs with his friends during his cognitive development. His parents warned him not to return late from the movie hall on one occasion. The young boy returned the following day to their utter surprise, claiming that he was old enough and therefore felt that no one was to make decisions for him.
Physical behavior
Adelman et al. (2019) further explain that individuals begin to have hormonal development during adolescence. Due to these hormones, individuals begin physical changes such as the development of pimples and increased growth. Individuals also feel that they possess energy so that they may become physical and violent. My cousin, at this stage, began fighting his peer and children younger than him. Most reports of him indicated that he was becoming more violent than usual.
