Assimilation is adding new information to what people already know without any problems. This system helps people learn well and keeps their minds stable (Kivisto, 2015). This mental process makes it easier to fit new experiences into existing models. It encourages mental consistency and makes the best use of mental resources.
Characteristics
1 It happens naturally as a part of life.
2 Assimilation is a way to get used to new things.
3 It involves adding new information to mental models that are already in place.
4 Mistakes may happen if new knowledge is inadequately incorporated (Kivisto, 2015).
5 Cultural and social factors can affect the behavior.

Accommodation
Cognitive accommodation includes adapting pre-existing knowledge to incoming information (Meeting & Shera, 2003). This adaption improves mental framework accuracy, helping people understand the ever-changing environment.
