The various dimensions of the innovation recorded in developed and developing countries include the new-to-market innovation where new technologies are implemented in firms, and they would result in an increased rate of employee turnover. This is possible in situations where human labor is replaced by machines. Additionally, product innovation; includes the development of new products such as the internet and television that change how things are done. For example, the development of the internet has changed firms’ conduct their marketing strategies. Further, innovation may include upgrading processes; firms in both developed and developing countries are keen on making essential changes to existing processes, and this is attributed to improving the quality of product and service delivered. Most importantly, organizational and marketing-related innovations aim to make changes and redesign organizational frameworks and marketing strategies to meet customers’ needs. Also, networked innovation is focused on changing how firms make links with other external players to increase knowledge and facilitate collaboration.
Some factors that influence the pace and mode of innovation processes at microeconomic and macroeconomic levels include the complexity and cost of engaging in innovation. Some innovations are costly and necessitate collaborations of stakeholders from different fields. For example, innovative activities would require integrations of technologies in different areas such as social sciences and microelectronics. The inability to facilitate collaborations is likely to influence fast innovation; it is critical to note that the feels the need to part with other companies and share costs. Challenges in engaging in collaborations affect access to different critical technologies, and this hampers the innovative network.
