Article Critique ANCOVA. Mathematics & Economics Essay

Essay Instructions:

The practice of quantitative research not only involves statistical calculations and formulas but also involves the understanding of statistical techniques related to real-world applications. You might not become a quantitative researcher nor use statistical methods in your profession but as a consumer, citizen, and scholar-practitioner, it will be important for you to become a critical consumer of research, which will empower you to read, interpret, and evaluate the strength of claims made in scholarly material and daily news.
For this Assignment, you will critically evaluate a scholarly article related to ANCOVA.
To prepare
Review the Article Critique Assignment Guide in the Walden Library, listed in the Week 2 Learning Resources.
Search the Walden Library for a quantitative article that applies ANCOVA.
By Day 7
The Assignment
Write a 2- to 3-page critique of the research you found in the Walden Library that includes responses to the following prompts:
Why did the authors select ANCOVA in the research?
Do you think this test was the most appropriate choice? Why or why not?
Did the authors display the results in a figure or table?
Does the results table stand alone? In other words, are you able to interpret the study from it? Why or why not?

ANCOVA Test in Research
ANCOVA is a data analysis method used for evaluating whether or not the means of a particular dependent variable in a research are equal in all levels of a categorical independent variable; the independent variable, in this case, is referred to as a treatment, and the analysis is conducted by ensuring that all the other effects of the continuous variables which are not of any significant interest are statistically controlled (Little & Rubin, 2019). Such variables that are of less importance are referred to as nuisance variables or covariates. The ANCOVA approach is applied in research depending on the variables and the interaction between the different variables, as in the case of Hristian, Ostafe, Manea, and Apostol’s (2017, June) ‘Study of Mechanical Properties of Wool Type Fabrics using ANCOVA Regression Model.
Why did the authors select ANCOVA in the research?
Hristian, Ostafe, Manea, and Apostol’s (2017, June) chose to ANCOVA in their data analysis because they sought to analyze how the tensile strength of four different fabrics varies with regard to the individual fiber composition, the strength (tensile) of each of the yarns, as well as the density (technological) of each of the weft yarns. Considering the variables involved in the analysis and the data to be collected for analysis, Hristian, Ostafe, Manea, and Apostol (2017, June) found the ANCOVA regression model to be the most suitable in this case. The method selected because it helps researchers in establishing the correlation existing between the covariate independent variables and the dependent variables in the research, as well as eliminating variability from the dependent variable, and this is easily accounted for by the covariates in the study. Analyzing covariance models also entails analyzing variance using methods of regression analysis, with ANCOVA being the most applicable in this case.
The ANCOVA model was used in the design because it helps in explaining the dependent variable by combining the independent (qualitative) and also the continuou...
