In an organizational setup, politics is inevitable. And according to Dr. Khare (2015), persons who ignore ‘this fact’ of life, “do so at their own peril.” In my most previous workplace, we had numerous programs running at the same time. For a very long time, the organization’s programs were primarily managed by social workers. As such, they were used to coordination limited among them. When the organization widened its scope, it brought on board nutrition programs and had to hire nutritionists. In the scalar chain of the organization, all departmental programs had heads whom the respective juniors reported to, but the nutrition department.
The nutritionists not only reported to but also received directions from different heads of department. This created confusion as well as rendered the new employees dejected. This was further compounded by the fact that these heads did not have knowledge of nutrition and ended up fru...
