The interview I selected is the third video. Special Agent Michaels undergoes a review for promotion to GS13 from GS 12 by Assistant Special Agent in charge Donna Barnes.
Agent Michaels interview by Assistant Special Agent Donna Barnes portrayed various strengths. One, the interview observed the proper introduction of the interviewee. According to Colwell, Hiscock, and Memon, an interview should begin with the interviewer acknowledging the interviewee and developing rapport (Colwell, Hiscock & Memon, 2002, pp. 290). Agent Donna observed this by welcoming Agent Michaels to her office and acknowledging his qualifications as a GS12 agent. Two, the interviewer made the interviewee comfortable by allowing him to explain his workload and express his feelings about his job. Three, the interview observed the rule of asking open-ended questions. For instance, Agent Donna asked, “Tell me about your caseload?” Four, the interviewee was prepared for the interview, which he depicted by answering all the questions asked.
