1. Service Project Description
The service project of the development of a new mobile application is recommended for McDonald’s restaurants in Thailand. Technological advancements and algorithms are integrated into the mobile application. The new features help to collect the customer’s data in a more effective manner and important insights identified from data are used to develop new policies to ensure that personalized experience is provided to customers through the mobile application. There are no changes in a recommended service project and higher management of McDonald’s is interested to introduce a mobile application for improvement of food delivery service. The algorithm helps to conduct the data analytics process in a more effective manner (Majed, 2017). McDonald’s new mobile application helps to achieve competitive advantage in the highly competitive food and beverages industry of Thailand.
2. Project Implementation and Access to Project Specifics
The service project is implemented in Thailand. As a consultant, presence is ensured at McDonald’s head office in Bangkok city, Thailand. The complete project is developed at the head office and consultant is responsible to develop and convey the complete project details to relevant stakeholders. The in-house resources available at head office are used for the development of the mobile application. As a consultant, it is recommended that McDonald’s IT department in Thailand should carry out all the activities associated with the technical development of the mobile application.
3. Challenges Associated with Project
The below-mentioned challenges can be generated in the development and implementation phases of the mobile application.
1) Lack of technical expertise in employees can result in ineffective development of algorithms for mobile application (Xie et al., 2018).
2) Introduction of a new mobile application can create a negative impact on the current customer’s base because additional cost is required to educate the customers about the new features.
3) Resistance can arise among the existing employees because more preference is given to employees with technological advancements knowledge.
4. Strategies to Overcome Challenges
The below-mentioned strategies are used to overcome challenges.
1) An external data analytics (Information Technology) consultant is required to provide support in the development of algorithms for mobile application.
2) A short video needs to be developed for an explanation of features of the new mobile application. Customers can view the video to understand the process to place food delivery orders as per the expectations.
3) Project consultant needs to adopt a transformational leadership style to involve every employee at the head office in the development of a collect vision for new application development (Galli, 2016). Every employee should be encouraged to provide suggestions that can help to improve the development and implementation phases of the mobile application. This approach helps to decrease resistance among employees.

John is the team leader for IT employees sub-team and Michael is a team leader for customer services sub-team. An external data analytics expertise is required to supervise and provide consultation in the development process of algorithms for mobile application.
